Metal Roofing Information

I bought a tract house near Edgewood, New Mexico, USA several years ago and the roof is beginning to be a problem.

Living in this part of the country there are three factors that destroy roofs

• Intense solar radiation. The house is located at 6,000 and the intense sunlight...
• Dry Air. On hot summer days the humidity near the ground may only be 10%. On the roof there isn't any moisture at all.
• Wind. Especially in March, but at other times of the year we get high sustained winds with gusts over 60MPH. My house was built with the shingles edge on to the worst of the winds. No surprise when some of them start coming off.

I decided that I have had it with asphalt shingles and that I am going to replace them with metal roofing panels. This website details our roofing adventure, what we did and how we did it. The actual mechanics of putting on a metal roof can be described in a few words. The reasons we went with metal, the financial impact of the choices we made, and the normal problems with such a project are all discussed on this website.
